Ideal for children who are not yet vocal imitators, this engaging app provides a bridge from signing to vocal communication. It comes loaded with strategies developed by Tamara Kasper, MS, CCC-SLP, BCBA, and Nancy Kaufman, MA, CCC-SLP, to assist speech-language pathologists in improving articulation and functional communication.

Further, it provides a method for speech-language pathologists to share progress and guide and monitor practice sessions provided by parents and other professionals.

The Therapy Zone

The Therapy Zone is password protected and allows instructors to create and store an individualized roster of student accounts.

Within each student account, instructors create customized word lists for practice and/or testing sessions.  Sessions are built by selecting desired target words from among the 190 available images and signs.

Testing Function

Document and store student performance during each testing session.

The testing screen displays a photo of the target word as well as a list of potential word approximations. The video demonstration of the sign is accessible via the Show Sign button.

The app will record and store the approximation level achieved by the student for future comparisons and for data collection and reporting.

Data Collection & Reports

This app automatically compares a testing session to previous testing sessions comprised of the same word list.  A report screen is produced showing words in one of three columns: Correct, *Improvement Noted or Skipped/Regressed words.

*Improvement Noted is recorded when a student was not able to achieve the full, correct form of the word, but was able to produce a higher-level approximation of the word as compared to the previous testing session.

Instructor comments may be added to this screen and then the results with notes can be emailed.

Data Graphing Function

The number of correct words produced during a testing session is recorded and available in the form of a cumulative line graph, which compares results of multiple testing sessions of the same word list.

The graph displays the date of each session and the number of correct words achieved. Instructors have the option to add notes and then email the graph and notes.

Emailing Data

Instructors have the option to email both individual lesson results (the 3 columns) and to email a cumulative graph displaying the number of correct words achieved across multiple sessions of that same word list.

Instructors may enter any pertinent notes which will appear within the email text.
