Course Format: Videos & downloadable handouts.

Clients with cognitive impairment often have difficulty with functional activities and difficulty learning or relearning behaviors. Many function well below their potential because of fear or other psychological barriers. Depressed, unmotivated, apathetic and/or anxious clients typically do not achieve the same level of benefit from treatment, relative to other populations.  These patients often pose significant challenges for therapists.

This dynamic and unique e-course presents evidence-based strategies focused on improving functional independence, ADLs, and even memory ability.  Participants will learn to increase treatment efficacy with patients who have cognitive impairment, depression, and/or difficult personality disorders. Participants will also learn to individualize their treatment interventions for difficult populations. Discussed will be executive functioning and how to rehabilitate attention in an effort to improve overall cognitive functioning and independence.   Participants will take away numerous cognitive rehabilitation activity ideas, as well as other practical ideas, tools, and strategies that can be immediately put into practice.

This e-course is ideal for rehab professionals treating patients with:

  • Apathy
  • Depression
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Brain injury from stroke or trauma
  • No awareness of their impairments
  • Extreme lack of motivation
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Memory problems (older adults)
  • Falls or fear of falling

Please note:  This eCourse is set up to be flexible to accomodate all schedules.  You do not have to complete this program in one sitting.  You can access the course materials as many times as you need to in order to complete all the sections.
