Blend split technique causes target sound to stand out.Speech Bingo Blends (SBB) is motivating and effective for improving articulation and phonological awareness in a shorter time. SBB’s orthographic presentation of blend separation correlates directly with the proven, long-used, cued-articulation technique that separates a blend to target a sound with hand or finger movements. Target sounds will stand out for quick identification and processing. SBB also enhances language skills, and is terrific with group therapy in which each student practices his/her own therapy objectives. Play with 6 individuals or up to 12 in team format. Game cards show blend split and complete word. Sentences have descriptors such as antonyms, synonyms, definitions and more. Third line contains a rhyme word for the answer.

Cheri Fletcher, M.S., CCC-SLP works as a school clinician for the School Board of Broward County, Florida with middle school students. She also privately contracts in rehab clinics to help young children overcome speech and language deficits. Cheri's vast experience with enhancing articulation and phonological awareness skills, as well as helping students with verbal apraxia has led to her development of various patented products that remediate those associated problems. Cheri is the author of Speech Bingo Blends that incorporates the concept of Cued Articulation, a long used and effective therapy technique involving physical placement and/or gestures for place and manner of articulation for blend separation to target a sound, but showing the same concept in print. The orthographic cues (printed cues) enhance speech intelligibility when showing the blend separation in the word with the target sound as the first word part (S Blends) or as the beginning of the second word part (R and L Blends). Blend production is easy to acquire with the separation technique and now available in print as an additional modality for sound processing.
