"SOS is so practical and effective. I've been waiting for years for someone to creatively package an approach that is systematic, yet flexibly so, as well as functional. The flexibility of this program can especially be demonstrated in my ability to use SOS when I do whole-class speech and language lessons or traditional small group therapy. With a caseload of 60, I feel like I finally have a way to successfully address all of my student's goals each week!"
—T.D., Speech-Language Pathologist
Work with several diagnostic groups in the same session!

Strategy-Based Instruction For the School-Age Population
Group Therapy Tool
Overwhelmed with large and diverse caseloads, limited therapy time, poor student transition of newly learned skills, changes in service delivery models, and a lack of functionally based treatment programs? SOS can help! SOS is a complete strategy-based, group therapy program for all diagnostic groups, including school-age and adolescent students struggling with language, cognition, speech, voice, fluency and articulation. SOS strategies are taught using one, highly flexible (DOES) delivery model to ensure student retention, comprehension, application and success! Includes everything needed to quickly and easily implement this program.

- Use of a SOS mnemonic and the D.O.E.S. Delivery Model in each unit allows you to flexibly and appropriately group students with different skill levels resulting in a manageable schedule.
- SOS lessons are easy to incorporate in to core curriculum without additional preparation.
- Parent and Teacher Educational Brochures and Letters are a great way to introduce yourself, your services and the SOS Strategy Program to staff, parents, teachers and IEP team members.
- Reproducible, functional activities reduce your preparation time and make caseload management easier.
Measurable Benchmark Goals and Objectives are provided for individual strategy units.
VOLUME 2: SPEECH-FLUENCY-VOICE
Strategy Units Included:
- Intelligibility
- Speech Production of Specific Sounds
- Fluency Awareness
- Fluency Techniques
- A Healthy Voice
- Vocal Quality
MAJOR BENEFITS OF USING SOS:
- Caseload management is made easier by allowing you greater
flexibility for grouping more students with different skill levels since everyone works from his or her own SOS strategy program but has the same delivery model.
- Planning for therapy is significantly reduced because the strategy reinforcement lessons are taught through the "D.O.E.S." delivery model that has built-in lesson structure.
- SOS transitions smoothly into the classroom and teachers can reinforce the strategies. SOS also allows you to naturally implement core curriculum into your program, which is the expectation of IDEA, No Child Left Behind and new IEP regulations.
- Parents, teachers and administrators become aware of how you are working with students. They see the improvement and can help reinforce your efforts.
- Students learn their skills more quickly allowing: sessions to be decreased, fewer prompts, less structure or dismissal from caseload.

"I attended your training in Albuquerque and have been on the road to full implementation of the SOS therapy delivery model ever since. In fact, full implementation of SOS with all my SLI students at the middle school is my professional development plan (PDP) this school year.
I'm writing to thank you. Last week I "defined" SOS with every student on my caseload (~ 70). It was the first week that I felt like a speech-language pathologist again after coming back to the schools from a medical setting two years ago!! They use a "full inclusion" model for service delivery at this middle school. Without the answers your SOS training provided last February, I probably was not going to be able to maintain my sanity.
I do not have words to express my appreciation. Your impact is felt here at my middle school every day and people are starting to take notice. I do not have words to express my appreciation. I hope that you are still able to provide training to other SLPs who are as desperate as I was for answers." —K.M., Speech-Language Pathologist

"We have taught SOS strategies for the past three years in our 2nd/3rd grade collaborative classroom. All of our students, special ed and general ed, have benefited from the learning, practice and application of the real-life skills in the SOS Program. Ruth and Liz have made teaching the skills easy and learning the skills fun." —C.C., Special Day Class Teacher & M.H., 2nd-Grade General Education Teacher
"In using the SOS system here at Santiago Hills Elementary School, we found great success providing strategies for students struggling with certain behaviors. When children don't have the internal workings to process through a logical progression of decision making, the SOS program provides that framework, systematic checking system, and appropriate language to effectively solve issues. We have found it valuable, not just in solving problems or issues, but in empowering students to be better, independent problem solvers in life." —S.M., Elementary School Principal
