The 320 implementing tools are contained in both a spiral-bound notebook and on a CD. The implementing tools can be reproduced with a photocopier or printed from the CD.

The sturdy card box is indexed by letter/sound and color coded. The color coding is repeated on the cards to enable effective use and storage.

Target Audience

Literacy Speaks!® is an early literacy program for use by SLPs, General Educators, Special Educators, Title 1 Educators and Literacy Specialists.

The program targets the needs of preschool through early elementary school children, children with special needs, children with communication disorders, students learning English as a second language and economically disadvantaged students.

Author

Keli Richmond, MS, CCC-SLP, works in the Texas school systems teaching in-services, providing therapy, and promoting literacy skills for preschool through middle school students. Keli also presents on the topic of literacy development to SLPs and other educators around the United States at in-services, seminars and state and national conventions.  She is author of the Literacy Speaks!® program. Literacy Speaks!® introduces orthographic instruction (printed cues) in a comprehensive program that improves speech intelligibility and language skills while promoting a strong literacy foundation. Keli is a past recipient of the Indiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Professional Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding professional development. She was a founding member of the United Way Women's Initiative, an organization dedicated to closing educational gaps through early literacy development.
