Apraxia Program: Complete Kit — TalkTools^®

For children who cannot imitate speech from verbal cues. This versatile program is ideal for transitioning movement from OPT to speech production for those clients with motor-planning deficits. Most appropriate for those clients who cannot achieve correct production of target sounds with verbal and visual cues alone or those who do not respond to verbal and visual cues.

The three sets of tools—Bilabial Shapes, Tactile Tubes, and Speech Blocks—provide tactile cues for specific sounds /m, p, b, oo, oh, ee, ih, eh, uh, ah/ so clients can feel where the articulators should be during speech production. When combined with verbal and visual cues, they provide a multi-sensory approach to facilitating speech.

This program teaches the means to transition from use of a tool to achieve correct movement patterns, to the use of hand-assisted positioning cues, and finally to verbal and visual cues alone.  Videos of each step for all three sets of tools along with written instructions will allow the therapist and the parent to see how to transition these skills from isolated sounds using a tool to connected CV, VC, CVCV, and VCVC combinations.
