 SEMINAR DESCRIPTION:

The ability to understand different memory systems operating in the brain is crucial to ensuring maximum treatment efficacy when evaluating and treating individuals with cognitive loss. Taxing memory systems that have been compromised after traumatic brain injury or during the progression of dementia can result in poor therapy outcomes. This clinically focused seminar explains brain-behavior relationships and how to design disorder-specific interventions that improve performance during activities of daily living. Participants will learn how to control for memory system overload and how to identify psychological barriers that sabotage positive therapy outcomes.  Throughout this clinical seminar, functional goals and outcomes will be emphasized.
