 SEMINAR DESCRIPTION:

Few topics in the field of Speech-Language Pathology are more controversial right now than electrical stimulation. This
seminar is a must attend for all dysphagia clinicians, especially those currently using electrical stimulation or those considering
adopting this technology. Presented by one of the leading researchers in the field, this seminar will give participants an
unbiased view of this technology. Numerous studies will be dissected, evaluating each for its validity and its limitations.
Participants will learn how electrical stimulation works, which patients may benefit from the technology, and which patients
actually may be harmed by this technology. Also included will be an overview of the current devices available, their clearance
for use for dysphagia treatment, their benefits and limitations, their costs, and where this technology is likely headed in the
future. The ultimate goal of this seminar is to aid dysphagia clinicians in the decision-making process regarding the safe and
effective use of electrical stimulation for dysphagia rehabilitation.
