Description

Bring a group of five or more and SAVE $50 EACH on tuition!

SEMINAR DESCRIPTION:

Currently in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, universal standards for swallow evaluation terminology, measurement, and reporting methods do not exist. The MBS, while a clinically useful tool, remains a subjective test. Evidence, rather than opinion, should guide clinical decision making.

This seminar is built on the findings of a rigorous FIVE YEAR study which sought a system to quantify swallowing impairment via the MBS. In other words could the MBS be turned from a subjective test to an objective test complete with standardized instruments, data collection protocols, analyses of test results, and reporting methods? The answer was YES!

Seminar participants will learn the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile, or MBSImP. The MBSImP establishes a standard vernacular, protocol, evaluation measurement, and reporting method for the MBS.  The MBSImP also provides the means for every clinician to achieve a new level of competence in swallow evaluation and treatment planning, and a mechanism to train and measure competence in current staff and new hires.
