SEMINAR DESCRIPTION:

This seminar will cover in depth optimal patterns of care for head & neck patients with swallowing, speech/voice, and communication disorders. Types of treatment for head & neck cancer and their impact on swallowing and communication function will be described, including surgical and organ preservation (radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy). Assessment and evidence-based practice relevant to the head & neck cancer population will provide support for the clinician in developing a holistic approach to rehabilitation in order to optimize functional outcomes. Extensive case presentations will be an integral part of this seminar.

  • $325 individual
  • $300 per person for groups of two, three or four
  • $275 per person for groups of five or more

Cancellation Policy & Late Registration

Registration Cancellation Policy:

Tuition will be refunded less a $25 processing fee if emailed notification is received by NSS up to two weeks prior to the seminar date. Two weeks to 72 hours prior to seminar date: 50% refund; 72 hours or less: no refund. NSS reserves the right to cancel the event up to 7 days prior to the seminar date. If cancelled by NSS full tuition refunds will be issued. Substitutions are permitted if NSS is notified in advance by phone or email.

Late Registration Fee:

Add $20 to tuition rate if registration is received within
2 weeks of the seminar date.

Speaker Profile

Donna S. Lundy, PhD, CCC-SLP, BRS-S, is an Adjunct Associate Professor and the Co-Director of the Vocal Disorders Laboratory within the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, FL. Her clinical practice is focused on the management of individuals with head & neck cancer, swallowing disorders and voice disorders. Dr. Lundy has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored numerous book chapters. She is involved in a number of multi-institutional research grants investigating swallowing difficulties in head & neck cancer patients. On a national level, Dr. Lundy is on the review board for ASHA Publications/Materials and serves on the Neurolaryngology Subcommittee for the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery. 


Paula A. Sullivan, MS, CCC-SLP, BRS-S, is a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Department of Neurology/Speech Section within the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System in Gainesville, FL.  Her clinical expertise and research is focused on swallowing disorders in head and neck cancer and at end of life.  Ms. Sullivan has published numerous articles and book chapters, and co-authored books related to these topics.   She is an ASHA Fellow and a former coordinator of ASHA's Division 13, Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. She is also coauthor of the Easy-To-Swallow, Easy-To-Chew Cookbook.
