Discussion will focus on matching specific treatments with specific swallowing disorders and the decision-making process when employing diet modification, exercise, postures, positioning, maneuvers, or specific techniques related to cognitive loss. Also discussed will be the recommendation of non-oral feedings.

A specific segment addressing esophageal disorders is included to help the SLP know when to refer to other health care professionals. Special considerations and treatment suggestions when implementing programs for patients with cognitive loss will be covered. Also included will be a session on pharmacology and dysphagia. Common diagnostic groups and targeted interventions appropriate for these disorders will be discussed for clients with CVA, Parkinson's disease, dementia, COPD, ALS, MD and MS.
