REASONS TO ATTEND THIS SEMINAR:
This continuing education speech-language pathology conference is offered for 0.6 CEUs. Discussed in detail will be evidence-based, multi-sensory interventions that can be used effectively to improve speech intelligibility, phonological awareness and language comprehension. The importance and rationale for using printed cues (orthographic instruction) in therapy will be explained including discussion of why pictures should not be introduced until after letter/sound association has been firmly established. In addition, multi-sensory story mapping methods and techniques will be explained and demonstrated to improve reading comprehension, narrative comprehension and writing skills. By the end of the conference participants will have learned techniques to simultaneously build communication competencies while establishing foundational literacy skills. Participants will leave with skills to effectively participate in RTI programs and classroom consultation and to more effectively teach to the district curriculum.
CONTENT DISCLOSURE: This presentation will focus on treatment methods related to the use of Literacy Speaks!® and Narrative Builder. Other similar treatment approaches will receive limited or no coverage during this lecture.

Tuition will be refunded less a $25 processing fee if emailed
notification is received by NSS up to two weeks prior to the seminar date.
Two weeks to 72 hours prior to seminar date: 50% refund; 72 hours or less: no
refund. NSS reserves the right to cancel the
event up to 7 days prior to the seminar date. If cancelled by NSS full tuition
refunds will be issued.
Substitutions are permitted if NSS is notified in advance by phone or email.
