Online Courses - How They Work

Why take an Online Course?

Our Online Courses are a great supplement to Live Courses. While they are not meant to replace interactive, group-learning environments, Online Courses allow you flexibility in both receiving relevant information and in meeting your CE requirements. Offered 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, Online Courses fit your schedule. They are also an efficient way to fulfill licensing requirements. You save time and money since you only pay for the number of hours that you need.

Getting Started

Find a Course that interests you by clicking on the "Continuing Education" button located in the menu bar. Then, select "Online Courses" (For step-by-step instructions for selecting and registering for an Online Course, click here.) Once you've selected your course, you'll be asked to register. If you have previously registered for a Course, registered online for a seminar or ordered a product online, you need only to supply your email address and password in the log-in section.

If this is the first time you've registered for an Online Course with us, you will need to create a new account. Here you'll provide the pertinent information needed to create an account including an email address and password. Your email address and password need to be at least six characters long and we recommend you pick something easy to remember or write it down in a safe place. You will need these to get back into your account.

Basic requirements for participating in continuing education courses on the Internet are an up-to-date Web browser application (such as Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) and a working email address.

Logging In Again

You may come and go into your account as often as you'd like. If you have already registered for a Course, you only have to log-in to continue. Make sure you keep your email address and password in a safe place as you will be required to provide this information whenever you return.

Testing and Certificates

You may take the post-test as many times as necessary to get a passing grade. You will need to receive a minimum score of 80% to qualify for your certificate. Once you've received a passing score, you will be asked to complete an evaluation form. We appreciate the feedback we receive from these evaluation forms as it helps us to maintain the high quality courses our customers deserve. Once these items are completed, you may log in whenever you'd like to view or print your certificate of completion. If you are a speech-language pathologist and would like to receive ASHA credit, you will be required to provide your ASHA number during registration. ASHA credit is submitted on a monthly basis. NSS uses the date on which you completed your Course to determine which month it will be sent to ASHA (i.e. If you register for a course on February 2nd but do not complete it until April 15th, it will be sent in with the May filing).
