Kaufman (K-SLP) Treatment Kit 2 – Advanced Level

Refine articulation and speech intelligibility, plus build higher motor-speech coordination skills using familiar two and three syllable words.

Kaufman Kit 2 uses familiar two and three-syllable words to target more complicated motor-speech movements and synthesis into initial and final word positions. The 285 visual referent cards were selected specifically to target and teach the syllable shapes that are the building blocks of speech for children to master in order to become effective vocal/verbal communicators. Treatment methods employ a systematic and progressive approach of simplifying word pronunciation patterns to shape and expand verbal expression and make communication easier for children with childhood apraxia of speech and other speech sound disorders.

This highly effective approach builds intelligibility through a hierarchy of successive "word shell" approximations based on the least physiological effort of target words. Each card breaks down the target word into a series of approximations based on the least physiological effort. The clinician is able to introduce more complex phoneme patterns as the child's ability improves, thus maintaining the child's ability to speak at his or her maximum level. These "word shells" provide a verbal avenue by which children communicate at their own skill level with success! Made in the USA.

Since 1979, Nancy Kaufman, MA, CCC-SLP, has dedicated herself to establishing the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP), a treatment approach to help children become effective vocal communicators. The K-SLP has evolved over the years to include the most current research in childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), motor learning, and applied behavior analysis (ABA), and its methods and materials are used by speech-language pathologists worldwide. In addition, many ABA specialists have adopted the K-SLP for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Nancy lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on the subject of CAS and other speech sound disorders in children. Families from around the country and the world travel to the Kaufman Children's Center for Speech, Language, Sensory-Motor, and Social Connections, Inc (KCC) in West Bloomfield, Michigan to participate in intensive, specialized therapy programs. The KCC continues to grow, offering renowned speech, language, occupational therapy, sensory integration, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) center and home-based autism programs.

Nancy served as a member of the Professional Advisory Council for Apraxia Kids for 10 years. Currently she serves on the board of visitors of Wayne State University's Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute for Child and Family Development, and is the speech-language pathologist consultant for the Parish School and Carruth Center in Houston, Texas, and Suburban Speech Center in Short Hills, New Jersey.

Nancy has been honored by both of her alma maters: she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Wayne State University in 2015 and the Outstanding Alumni Award from Michigan State University in 2010. She was awarded the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and the West Bloomfield Township Chamber of Commerce Community Excellence Business Person of the Year Award in 2015. She was also recognized by the Lawrence Technological University Leaders & Innovators program. The KCC has received MSHA's Clinical Service Award and Corp! Magazine's Best of Michigan Business Award. Customer Reviews

"I have Kits 1 & 2 along with the Workout Book. I had a little guy who was starting with Kit 1 in August and we are into Kit 2 now. He loves the cards and the "puppy book", especially Moppy! He loves making up his own phrases with the cards. One of his sisters saw me at the store and she came up and hugged me and said 'Thank you for teaching my brother to talk! We can understand him now!'" — Speech-Language Pathologist

"I work in the schools and my biggest success was the parents giving me the best compliments as they couldn't believe the success received with increased intelligibility...using these Kits! I can't thank you enough!" — Speech-Language Pathologist
