“I appreciated that the presenter is so knowledgeable about the LGBTQ community because she primarily works with individuals of this community in her private practice.” – S.F. (Feb. 2021)
“This was a wonderful introduction to gender-affirming voice therapy. I especially appreciated the presenter sharing some of the specific assessments and therapeutic techniques, as my understanding of theory is already relatively strong but putting it into practice is a bit more daunting. The presenter was clearly knowledgeable, had a good conversational way of speaking while still sticking to the content - it never got boring but was always on point. I think offering a higher level course would be great. This is definitely a niche area of practice, and so collaborating can be challenging. Having a course focusing on finer points would be amazing.” – A.B. (Jan. 2021)
“Great information on being culturally competent as it relates to working with the LGBTQ community and treating each case individually. Understanding the reasons why individuals seek out voice therapy. I did not realize that safety was a big issue. This course was very informative. Learning more about the basics of voice therapy and its usefulness for transgender individuals.” – M.M. (Dec. 2020)
“I thought the handout containing specific techniques was very helpful. I plan to immediately implement the use of voice apps on the client's side during tele-evaluations.” – K.S. (Nov. 2020)
“The presenter was very knowledgable, had a good conversational way of speaking while still sticking to the content - it never got boring but was always on point.” – A.B. (Oct. 2020)
"The assessment and therapy materials and techniques were most beneficial. I liked the course's time frame and that it was a pertinent and interesting course." – E.F. (July 2020)
"It was all very good. I liked the full coverage of the topic, from a consultation to eval/tx and maintenance." – S.L. (June 2020)
"I really appreciated how direct this course was. You covered the background beautifully, then moved quickly to actual clinical tools. I liked the complete coverage of an actual treatment paradigm with practical tools and experiential tips." – J.S. (May 2020)
"I liked the therapy strategies - especially for voice masculinization and voice feminization. I need some reminders and ideas that would benefit my practice." – C.D. (Apr. 2020)
"This course will not impact my current practice as I am in home health. However with a transgender daughter I wanted to get additional information as a resource for her and her friends. This also makes me consider the possibility of doing private practice work in this area. I felt this course covered the full range of treatment for transgender Voice work including good examples for materials and the continuum of service." – K.D. (Mar. 2020)
"I found the information on how to train vocal resonance especially helpful to me. I liked that Ms. Babajanians spoke of very specific exercises to perform with clients, the 'nuts and bolts' of actual voice treatment with this special population." – C.T. (Feb. 2020)
"Excellent step by step examples of therapy techniques with specific examples." – J.S. (Jan. 2020)
"The discussion about ways to elicit forward focus with higher pitch and help with carry over was most beneficial. However, I expected there would be videos or audio tapes of therapy sessions or case samples (not just written case samples)." – S.B. (Jan. 2020)
"I liked that the course was concise, had good slides, and was to the point. The discussion on the use of resonance and body language in assisting in voice transition was most beneficial." – E.C. (Dec. 2019)
"It was great to hear about specific programming and therapy practices for working with members of the transgender community. The presenter was genuine and knew her topic." – P.O. (Nov. 2019)
"Learning current vocabulary was particularly helpful as it will make me feel more confident and comfortable when I interact with members of the LGBTQ community. I like that the presenter made sure to discuss the individuality of all trans voice clients. Her words 'view these clients with an open heart and open mind' were particularly meaningful. This was a really good course." – E.H. (Nov. 2019)
"I liked the overall education relating to characteristics associated with gender." – M.A. (Oct. 2019)
